Sainik School Purulia adjudged the Best School In Social Service in The
Telegeraph School Awards for Excellence 2009 at Kolkata :
Free Rural Eye
Check Up Camp was organized by the cadets of Sainik School Purulia on 10th
May 2009 at Ramnagar Mudipara Primary School , Ramnagar (
Purulia ) . More than 300 villagers suffering from different eye problems
were provided with free treatment including operational facilities to 43
patients free of cost . Others were provided with specs and required
treatment. This particular act of social service organized by the young
cadets has earned appreciation of villagers and made news headlines in
both print and electronic media. Besides the school has been helping the
people in neighboring villages to lead a quality life.
This year the school sent its nomination in two categories namely School
for Best Social Service and Best Maintained School for 13th
Telegraph School Awards for Excellence 2009. In both the categories the
school was short listed and was given certificate of honour on 22nd
August 2009. Finally in a mega programme at Science City Auditorium Kolkata
on 29th August 2009 Sainik School Purulia has declared the
best school in The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence in Social
Service 2009 . Gp Capt Vijay Kaushal , Principal Sainik School Purulia was
present in the function and received the certificate along with trophy
on behalf of Sainik School Purulia.

In
a glittering function at Science City Auditorium at Kolkata on 29th
August during 13th annual Telegraph School Awards Ceremony ,
Sainik School Purulia bagged the Trophy and Certificates for Excellence
for social service 2009. Gp Capt Vijay Kaushal , Principal Sainik School
Purulia received the award at the ceremony.
This award was given for the social Commitment shown by the cadets of
Sainik School Purulia during 2009, where beside providing social service
like health and hygiene education to rural poor population of villages at
purulia . The eye camp was organized during May 2009 where 300 old
patients were checked for their eye elinments and necessary corrective
surgery / operations were carried out with the help of Eye
hospital of Rotary Club of
Purulia. Beside above award the school also received certification for
Best maintained School on 22nd August09.
The committed cadets are planning more social services in near future in
form of health education.
