At Sainik School the Hostel Building are called "House ". Each House is named after a famous Indian personality. The school is divided into five houses namely Netaji House, Patel House, Tagore House, Tilak House and Chittanranjan House. All boys are accommodated in these houses under the care and supervision of the House Masters, House Tutors and Hostel Superintendents.          

All new entrants, (Class-VI) are accommodated in a holding house (Netaji House) under the care and supervision of the House Masters, House Tutors and Matron.

All boys dine together in a well furnished common dining hall. The cooking arrangements are supervised by a qualified Mess Manager. A mess committee with the representation of the staff and boys meets every month to work out weekly menu and discuss various suggestions for the improvement of the mess. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian menu are catered for keeping in view the health and taste requirements of the boys.


The school library contains thousands of books on various subjects to satisfy the curiosity of the young enquiring minds. Students have regular library periods and books are issued to the students for studying at their convenient times. The library also contains a large number of reference books like encyclopaedia, atlas and dictionary for the students to pursue their favourite subjects and assignments.


Apart from the books, the library contains the latest issues of a large number of newspaper and periodicals.


Computer training has been introduced as a part of School curriculum and as a Subject at +2 Level. All the students get the training in Computer and access to the facility of e-mail and internet. All cadets from classes VI to XII are given training in the courses like C++ , Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, FrontPage, GW-BASIC, Visual Basic, HTML. Cadets make projects and represent the school at district and state level Computer Fairs and bring laurels to the school. Well equipped laboratories exist in the school for Physics, Chemistry and Biology where the cadets are encouraged to learn the things practically. Different types of practical are performed. Students exhibit their chart, models and projects during the Annual exhibition.



NCC training is compulsory for all students and forms an integral part of the school curriculum. The school has a full fledged Junior & Senior Division NCC Company. Headmaster (Officer Commanding - NCC Coy) and qualified instructors from regular Army and NCC Officers in the organisation conduct the training. The cadets regularly take part in Annual Training Camps, Republic Day Parades in New Delhi , Kolkata, Purulia and various other training camps and training events. Outward bound courses are organised periodically to promote leadership qualities. Senior boys are detailed to attend Adventure Courses at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Rock Climbing and Adventure Leadership Courses are organized during the vacation. Hiking, Trekking etc. are also encouraged.



The school provides adequate facilities for various games like Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Squash, Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Badminton, Basket Ball and Table Tennis etc. Athletic activities are regular. PT forms an integral part of their physical training programme. The school also has a well equipped Gymnasium


Cocurricular Activities

The cadets get opportunity to do social service by being part of the Interact Club which functions under the aegis of Rotary Club. In order to hone their leadership skills, cadets can participate in International Award for Young People (IAYP) which is a scheme conducted by an International organisation based in UK. The school organises films and video shows for boys as a part of their training-cum-recreation. Films of educational value and selected feature films are screened. Educational tours to various places of historical and industrial significance are also arranged from time to time in addition to motivational trips to various Defence Establishments like NDA, IMA, AFA etc.
