Sainik School Purulia is a residential English
Medium Public School for boys imparting Public School Education with a
Military bias in the state of West Bengal. It is one of the 20 Sainik
Schools in the country established under the aegis of the Ministry of
Defence for the benefit of the comparatively weaker sections of the
society and for the removal of regional imbalances in the officers
caders of Defence services of India. SAINIK SCHOOL PURULIA,
established in January 1962, primarily caters to the domiciles of West
Bengal (67%) and then those of other states(33%).
School Crest, the Banyan tree, inspires learning, wisdom and enlightment. It also depicts a sense of permanence and durability, its
trunk shows links of industry. The leaves signify evergreen
youthfulness. The full bloomed lotus magnifies the flourish of
intellect and culture. The hill stands for firmness whereas the
flowing water signifies dynamism. The inscriptions stress on
'Discipline & Knowledge'. |

AIM of the school is to prepare the boys
academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National
Defence Academy and coveted walks of life. Character, team spirit,
dedication to purpose, a patriotic outlook, courage of conviction,

initiative, spirit-de-corps and a desire to serve the country with
zeal and efficiency are the qualities ought to be promoted by training
