SAINIK SCHOOL PURULIA ENTER INTO GOLDEN JUBILEE ERA : 29 JAN 2011

The spectacular Inaugural Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Sainik School Purulia (WB) was held on 29^th January, on the Founder’s Day by paying deep reverence to the 1^st Principal Col (Late) Suprabhat Mazumdar.  The Chief Guest of the occasion was Lt Gen Bikram Singh, General Officer Commanding in-Chief, Eastern Command.  Being one of the 24 Sainik Schools spread across the occasion, it is committed in preparing cadets for the National Defence Academy Khadakvasla, Pune.  The programme began with an impressive Guard of Honour accorded to the Chief Guest by the cadets of Class XI.  A special Assembly marked the day commencing with the school song followed by Welcome Address made by Gp Capt Vijay Kaushal, Principal, Sainik School Purulia.  The School Annual Publication ‘The Purulion’ was unveiled by the Chief Guest.  The Chief Guest Lt Gen Bikram Singh in his address urged the nation’s guardians of tomorrow to bear the right values and be attributed with qualities to become a worthy son of the nation and a good human being.In his inaugural address , he expressed his immense delight to be among children and quoted the example of a legendary visionary Dr APJ Abdul Kalam , who always believed in establishing rapport with the future torch bearers of the nation. He urged the cadets to have big dreams and follow them ardently. He also brought out the significance of his mentors, who  during his school days  shaped his life. The Chief Guest laid huge emphasis on the pivotal role played by parents in steering the cadets to join the Armed Forces , one of the best career options .  He hoped that the Purulions would be outstanding and prove their worth in every arena.  He further reiterated on developing strong leadership qualities, reinforced by a capacity for innovation and flexible response to emerging challenges.  The young cadets were urged to strive for excellence in academics as well as in other spheres.  He conveyed his greetings to all the cadets and members of the institution to work for quality attainment. He complimented the school on attaining the zenith of excellence and gifted a  Vijayanta Tank which will motivate and boost up the cadets to join the defence services. The glittering occasion was attended by a host of dignitaries, members of the prestigious Old Boys’ Association, guests and  officials of the District and State Administration as well.  Major attraction of the day also included, the inauguration of the much needed New Cadets’ Mess.   The spacious Mess with modern amenities would certainly foster a quality life among the cadets, even further.
