PURULIONS’ CAN DO IT: 33 PURULIONS CLEARED WRITTEN EXAMINATION FOR ENTRY INTO NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY

In the category of Inter-School Competitions in the eastern horizons Sainik School Purulia won the East Zone Champions Trophy 2009-10. Further it clinched the Runners Up Trophy in Inter Zonal Sainik Schools Championship in Volleyball at national level.

Our achievement in the field of Tae-kwon-do is indeed notable. Purulions represented the IPSC Boys Team at the National School Games Championships organized by the National Games Federation at Goa in Oct 2009.

Also the school has been awarded the “Telegraph Award” for “Excellence in Schools : Best School in Social Service

The investiture Ceremony of 2009 was observed with élan and sanctity Maj Gen RP Dastane, VSM, SM, GOC Bengal Area, was the Chief Guest who called upon the Sainik Schools cadets to be the torch bearers of the society and bestowed epaulettes upon the school and House Appointments.

'Purposeful’ education through cultivation of competencies is evident as two cadets Anirban Mukherjee (X) and Akash Biswas (IX) brought laurels with their best model at the science Exhibition organized by CBSE at the Regional level at Dhanbad in Aug’09. At national level the Project has been selected as one of the best twenty in Oct 09 in Delh

The path of the institute is embellished with extraordinary feats. The Interact Club of Sainik School Purulia, a wing of Rotary Club inaugurated in July 08 by Gp Capt Kaushal, has been rendering yeomen service to the society. Setting up of on ‘Eye Camp’ at Ramnagar Village and catering to 300 patients has made the School earn first position and trophy by Rotary International for North East and the Telegraph Award as Best in Social Service (Medical Category). This is certainly in keeping up with the rich ethos of the institution of also clinching the Best maintained School Award.

The raison-de-etre of this institution is to create academic excellence. The results of AISSE (X) and AISSCE (XII) has always been creditable and the school has been awarded the Merit Certificate for the best results in AISSCE (XII) 2008.

		Sainik School Purulia (WB), is the only CBSE affiliated Residential Public School in the state of West Bengal, functioning under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence. This is one among the 23 such schools in the country. The main aim of the school is to prepare the young cadets academically, physically and mentally fit to take up the profession in Armed Forces in Officer ranks through the National Defence Academy. 45 cadets of Sainik School Purulia (West Bengal) have cleared Written Examination for entry into National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune. This is the highest written result in a single course in last 15 years. Gp Capt Vijay Kaushal, Principal Sainik School Purulia, congratulated all the staff members and cadets for this excellent record breaking performance. School has also started an intensive coaching for the preparation of SSB which is going to held in the month of Dec 2008.
